The whole thing boiled down, in typical Molyneux fashion, to a massive contradiction: "I'm a minarchist but the real problem is the immigrants, not the state, so I need the huge power of the state to stop immigration. Also, only white males want a smaller government according to this one survey, so though I won't say it explicitly, I have no choice but to be a white nationalist. Good cultures, bad cultures, single moms, iq, tall chinese people, something something something, I hope you understand through all this sophistry why I was wrong about the nation state."

The "smaller government" white people generally want include more military spending, more police, expanding of the drug war, expanded surveillance state, welfare programs for old people, and hawkish war policies.
An ethno-state *will not* lead to a smaller government.

People who advocate for an ethno-state, with a few exceptions, advocate expanding welfare and socialist programs. They do so because they think socialism works if it's only for their race only.

You have to be deluded or insane to believe that republicans want smaller government. They don't. The proof is in the pudding. It's all lip service. When they get power they balloon the state as much as a Democrat.

That's one way the argument fails. Not the only. Another point he makes in the video is that he's not really advocating an ethno-state it's that it's what the data shows and he's just the messenger. Assuming for the moment that all of his data is correct and he's not leaving stuff out; you can't necessarily get an ought from an is. It's not that the is-ought gap isn't bridgeable but you have to at least build that bridge and not just assume it's there. Take global warming. Assuming even the most alarmist versions of climate change are true it doesn't follow that the policies that attempt to fix it will. you then have to explain why those policies will work to fix it.

To explain it in an analogy à la Stefan, it's like showing that dogs bark a lot and cause neighbors stress. Here's all the data that proves dog noise pollution has a negative strain on society. The solution is to blare white noise to drown out the barks. Hey, it's not me that wants to blare loud white noise in cities, it's what the data shows. Don't shoot the messenger.

It's a bad argument.

Oh, there's plenty of ways it fails. I just think that that contradiction negates the rest. If he's for smaller government and against the state, then why attack immigrants if they are the result of immigration policy first given by the state?

Of course there's more ways. I thought those were the two ways that that were the hardest for his defenders to obfuscate. Freedomain Radio is not a philosophy show, it's a lopsided biased political show. It's no different than The Majority Report or The Young Turks except it's playing for a different team.

Molyneux is just putting out as many videos and podcasts as he can, asking for money, saying whatever he thinks he can get away with, that is going to motivate some percentage of the public to send him money. He knows this percentage exists, people he can trick with guilt or fear or fake enthusiasm, because they are at a vulnerable stage in their life.

That's what I see, in any case. Over the years he's changed his slant in order to appeal to a larger audience. It's frustrating to watch, like the damage done by other demagogues, when all this energy could be going to improve life.

Which is ironic because that was the reason he said he didn't want put ads on his videos, but here we are.
